Before we embark on Chapter 1, let’s just clarify what we mean by self-esteem and what might be deemed low and high self-esteem. We’ll look at how self-esteem changes and what affects these changes. Then you get the chance to assess your own in different areas of your life and set yourself goals as to what you’d like to achieve by the end of the book.
We will also introduce you to a couple of key concepts that will be covered in more detail later in the book but are included here to stimulate your thoughts early on as to what benefits there might have been for you in having low self-esteem. Perhaps you’d not thought there might be a positive side?
Let me also suggest to you that in writing this book for you I am making some fairly fundamental assumptions about you the reader, namely that:
