Helping children recognise their skills to overcome limiting beliefs
You have the resources to do whatever you want to do
It is natural to question our ability, and children do this most of the time as they are in a constant state of learning. There will always be someone around who is learning at a faster rate, someone who has greater ability in a subject or has greater sporting or social skills, is more creative and so on.
As parents or teachers, carers or coaches, we too compare ourselves with others. Many is the time I’ve been waiting for one of my children at the school gate and looked on with amazement at how another mum manages to multi-task or look so wonderful just after giving birth. As a coach and writer, I have admired blog posts and articles written by other coaches and been envious of their skills.
But just imagine – what if you had all the resources already?
Children get into the habit of saying ‘I can’t’. We might ‘rescue’ as parents or teachers. The pattern continues and you can read all about this in the Drama Triangle chapter.
